Nobody’s Perfect: Podcast Bloopers 2010

blooper5Once a month I record a podcast for Zen Internet that is dedicated to the latest news and developments in the internet world.  I subsequently syndicate this podcast on my blog with Zen’s kind permission as The Internet Monthly. However, things often don’t always go smoothly during the recording process!

As with most things in life, things don’t always go to plan and recording podcasts is no exception to the rule; most of the time recording sessions progress relatively uneventfully. However, every now and then Gremlins creep into the system and the resulting mistakes of out-takes and bloopers are kept for posterity and for your seasonal amusement. Enjoy…

Embracing the Nerdy Side

Nerd Once a nerd always a nerd? Is nerdiness something you can shake off, or something you can embrace and transform into a nerdy type of coolness, or is it something you’re stuck with for life?

At school you’re likely to fall into one of two peer groups; the cool dudes, or the nerds. Without shadow of a doubt, I fell into the latter category. However, being a nerd at school maybe not such a bad thing, perhaps in the long run it’s actually for the best (although at the time it certainly wouldn’t appear so). Things change! Just as fashions change and what was once considered seriously un-cool suddenly becomes the height of fashion, so can the fortunes of the nerd.

However, just as some fashions never become trendy, so unfortunately some nerds never become cool and are destined for a life of abject nerdiness. As with most things in life though, things are never black and white, there are just infinitely varying degrees of shades of grey. So, perhaps there is also a nerd purgatory, a halfway house of mediocrity between coolness and nerdiness, a place where the majority of us probably reside.
